Customarily, the Miss Turks and Caicos Islands Earth title went to the first runner-up of the Miss Turks and Caicos Islands pageant, however, in an unprecedented move, the 2009 Miss Turks and Caicos Islands Earth pageant was held independently.

WIV News anchorwoman Alison Capron captured the 2009 title held during the Provo Summer Festival at the Williams Auditorium on Friday, July 31, 2009. The 23 year-old defeated four other crown hopefuls to become the official representative of the Turks and Caicos Islands at the Miss Earth 2009 pageant. Other contestants at the pageant were Nikia Wells, Vanessa Johnson, Kichandra Penn and Josselin Williams, the first runner-up.

Alison will now prepare to compete in the 9th edition of the Miss Earth beauty pageant which will be held on November, 2009 in the Philippines. The Miss Earth winner serves as the spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other environmental organizations.
